Well, it’s not like they were gonna do an overnight election for the interim replacement lol.
I know that at the federal level there’s usually a clear line of succession which includes members from the cabinet, but I don’t think that things are the same way at the local level.

My local news station gave her the achievement of being the first woman senator for SC. Shitheads, sure technically, but she was appointed not voted in by the people, some stupid shit.
