in Wikidata, you can define Lemmy communities using the property above.
What is good about having this ?
There was already a property for Mastodon instance links and addresses, but there was not one for Lemmy communities, but with that new property, you can create a statement with a Lemmy community ID for a certain item.
Is it possible to have them work across any instance?
you just input a community URL like communityname@host.tld
, which is pretty much how you reach any sorts if community.
Does this support all instances?

It basically means that Lemmy links are now recognised by Wikipedia
