- zabadoh@ani.social 2 days ago- Overall, I enjoyed it. I found Denzi’s falling in love with Reze believable. - But the ending was somewhat predictable, even if it was somewhat shocking and effective, which is probably(?) true to the source material. - The fight scenes got too wild to keep track of exactly was going on. - I found little logic in the fight scenes. - They were nicely animated, but ultimately at what should have been the crescendo of the fights were just figures jumping around, devolving into meaningless squiggling lines, which strikes me as lazy storyboarding. - As opposed to having tense fight dynamics and choreography. But again, the source material may be to blame.

Saw it in IMAX last night. It was great! Better than Infinity Castle, because it actually felt like a movie instead of a couple of episodes mashed together. Much better paced.
And no lengthy backstories! When the Angel Devil had a quick flashback, I was about to groan about having to interrupt an action scene with a backstory, but I’m glad they didn’t. In fact, having Makima and Kishibe just say a couple of lines about Angel’s and Reze’s histories was enough to give you their backgrounds, instead of doing a 30-minute flashback.
The music was amazing. The action scenes were not hard to follow even with so much happening.
My only minor gripe(?) is the change of art style. I get that the director wanted it to be faithful to the manga, and it should be, but I’ve grown to like the grounded and realistic animation of S1. Not a dealbreaker though. Also, why bother censoring when it’s an R-18 rated movie already? It just makes it look weird. Either show it or don’t at all.
