Today’s game is some more Final Fantasy 7 Remake. I finally beat the Abzu boss fight. It was a surprising challenge to be thrown into at the start of the chapter. I struggled to get him to catch fire sometimes. Eventually i managed to get through it though. While i was fighting him i noticed a surprising amount of detail on his model for, at least for something that would normally be moving.
Going through the sewers system was interesting. I went ahead and checked the differences between this and the original and i found out they greatly expanded this section. The whole thing was a bit tedious with the gate system, but it wasn’t too bad.
There’s a cutscene where the bridge crumbles and cloud nearly falls in the sewage water. Aerith and Tifa were acting like he’d die, makes me wonder just how toxic that stuff is? I assumed it would just be extremely gross, but nothing a heavy duty shower won’t clean off. Maybe it’s really toxic though.
There was the pump minigame, which i really struggled with. I think the instructions just kind of went in one ear and out the other so it was a challenge. I managed to get it though after reading through it multiple times.
I ended at the train yard, which, man, this makes me want to replay Alan Wake because there’s a train yard section in that game too. I’m already considering pausing everything else and just doing horror games until Halloween, so maybe i’ll put that on the table too along with Alan Wake 2, a replay of Silent Hill 2’s remake, and finishing up Silent Hill f.

Congrats on beating Abzu! I can tell you appreciate detailed world-building and memorable character moments and that’s actually something I’ve been working on in my own fantasy/romantasy novel. If you ever feel like taking a break from games and diving into a new story I’d love to have your perspective as a beta reader. Here’s the link if you’re interested: storyoriginapp.com/…/fa6b74b0-01c8-4cd0-8f9f-d67d… Would be great to hear your thoughts especially since you pick up on all the little details.

It’s been a while since i read with my short attention span making it hard. I do appreciate fantasy and have a secret soft spot for romantasy in specific though, so i’ll have to take a look.
