Making a complete lemmy alternative in a whole new engine is a very very tough endeavour

Oh my god, I totally forgot about this. People were even asking my advice to because I used to post so much at the time. This shit just fell off the face of the planet.
Thanks! I was hoping to contribute when I have more free time in a few years.
Maybe @jsonarray@utter.online can say? :)
(Though, I'm not sure if they read their Mastodon anymore. But maybe yes?)
@mark@programming.dev posted a link to an issue. The original dev became a father and took a break (also mental health). :-)

PieFed seems to have taken the spot as well, mostly delivering on what Sublinks wanted to be but faster and better. Python is more attractive than Java even for the Rust haters.

Everyone is ok with Python. It’s a reasonable choice that’s well known, well understood and doesn’t have a lot of negatives.
I’ve never met a hobbyist developer who writes Java for fun.

People have no idea how much work it is to build a real app. Theres a reason that this is generally a full time job.
