Don’t mind the plastic wrap, I’m literally in the middle of an enclosure rebuild
I’ve heard squeaking from an extruder that had little bits and shards of previous filament that was getting stuck during loading and unloading of filament rolls. You might try opening it up and seeing if there’s anything stuck in the channel or grinding against a gear.
Yeah maybe I can see if the gear is grinding against the body and see about adding some lubricant. As long as I don’t grease the teeth by mistake it should be fine
Get a real extruder and not literally the cheapest thing that creality could conceive to put in the Ender 3. The worst extruder in metal instead of plastic is still the worst extruder, it will just be the worst extruder for longer.

You’re going to waste more time and money dealing with the unreliability of that design than just buying a cheap geared extruder. You can get a BMG clone for $20 or less these days.

Besides the comments that already say what i would recommend: The plastic wrap is actually a pretty good idea, for an “temporary enclosure”
