I’ve been very guilty of frivolous spending on flash… Holy shit its gotten so cheap. I’ve been buying up 2Tb m.2 NVME drives for $100 in my new pc and then like 4 or 5 1tb sata drives from cheaper Chinese companies for like $35 to replace older spinning rust in some of my project computers. Guess I’m doing my part to prop up the market lol

Some of the really cheap stuff could have similar read and write speeds as a mechanical drive. Make sure you really do your research on it.

I have. So far I’ve all gotten drives that easily max out SATA so I haven’t been burned yet. And they’re all in machines that if the controller goes belly up and the drive dies, I really don’t care, so longevity is not much of a concern either.
Even the really shit drives still have random access times that beat the pants off spinning rust. So it’s a net positive either way.
