absolutely incredible go read it

it’s about humanoid gem people and starts off really cute, so it may be an odd thing to point out but probably the most fear I’ve felt reading a manga and this isn’t even remotely trying to be horror or anything at moments it just gave me an overwhelming feeling of existential thread there are random panels from this that are etched into my brain, not because they’re in any way special or important to the story, but because they just felt really empty

also I haven’t seen many pieces of fiction that that have focused this much on the specific type of character development this series has at its core the kind where characters feel like they aren’t just getting better or worse - they might still be moving in those directions, just not in a linear way - but more complex

as generic as it may sound, the central focus of this series is probably “What it means to be human” what makes it so interesting is that the author has a very unique view on human lives she has absolutely no respect for the human body in the way most people do and will have no hesitation to alter it’s form so when trying to anwser the question of what it means to be human, she will - quite literally - break people into little pieces to find out also the art is incredible - very unusual and maybe hard to get used to - but incredible especially for it’s use of dark spaces
