I would also advise against it, but for an almost opposite reason; it’s ineffective.
I was on Sertraline for a bit, but stopped taking it with absolutely no adverse affects whatsoever. Frankly even when I was on it, I noticed absolutely no difference (which is why I stopped taking it).
This is only my anecdotal experience, obviously talk to your doctor about it.

It’s helped me quite a bit, and my ex. It’s been a long time since I’ve been off it, but in general my depression has been manageable generally. There’s a few side effects I’ve had, but they’ve pretty been minor.
I’m sorry to hear your experience has been so bad, but it’s not a trick or a trap. Not all medication is ‘one size fits all’.
