When Mr. Musk purchased X in 2022, he promised to create a free speech haven and named himself a “free speech absolutist.”
Critics still feared that Mr. Musk would use his control of the app to pick and choose his favorites, amplifying voices he admired while suppressing people or topics he loathed.
The New York Times found three users on X who feuded with Mr. Musk in December only to see their reach on the social platform practically vanish overnight. The accounts are the starkest signs yet that Mr. Musk or others at the company have the power to punish critics and that they may be willing to use it, startling free speech advocates who hoped that the billionaire would be their champion.
Concerns about Mr. Musk’s influence have grown alongside his political ambitions as one of President Trump’s closest allies. He has also set his sights on boosting far-right politics across the world.

Yeah, I’m not surprised at all. Like it or not - and I know many people do not - continuing to use twitter means playing by muskrat’s rules, and currently those rules is get in line or get fucked. It’s not a platform of free speech, because regressives use “freeze peech” as code for “what I say deserves to be right and what you say deserves nothing.”
Twitter (no I’m not calling it X, it’s not a person, etc etc) is not worth fighting for anymore than Tesla is. They’re lost causes being associated with muskrat. And unlike people who bought teslas 7 years ago before it became necessary to google if the CEO of the brand you’re about to buy from is a fucking fascist, the people who have been using twitter for ages don’t have to pay exorbitant new-car-cpat dollars to get a new social media platform. If their audiences aren’t regressive, they need to be moving right along with them to new platforms that are less fascist-owned in nature.

They chose to sleep in somebody else’s bed and they shat it. What did they expect? Twitter isn’t some public agora where free speech is guaranteed or even expected.
Also, social media influencer drama is pathetic in general.
