  Hopefully they will buy Steam decks. It's just a linux computer. You get the easy console experience and the freedom to do what you want.

      It's only cheaper if you don't play any games. Steam games are always on sale.

      Plus you can pirate switch games and play them on the steam deck. Not all run perfect but like 9 of the last 11 switch exclusives are playable on the steam deck.

      I do have a switch but it's mostly sitting unused.

    I like emulators. X360 and ps3 are well emulated. PS4/PS5 emus are at a stage where they will be mainstream ~2 years if they move at same speed as prev gen

    360 was my last console. A part of me died after Halo 3. I just can't be bothered by all the mindless junk anymore...

    I literally am playing Age Of Empires II for the billionth time... a game from 99. New stuff is so bad. Age 4 was a boring grind

      GOG has been the winner hands down for the past few years. Drm free, you may download backups, and if they go out of business you still have your games.

    The fact that nobody is even starting a 'hello world' emulation test for XBONE, let alone series X, tells you how little people care. PS5 emulation tests started in 2021

      Lots of good reasons for that.

      1. There is basically Zero exclusives for xbox. Almost every game is also released for PC. I played through halo infinite on PC. Mostly on my steam deck. The xbox versions are a little better because they offer split screen. But there isn't really a incentive to emulate xbox when a developer can just improve wine and proton to run the windows version on linux and sometimes they run even better on linux. Windows has to much baggage. Valve is doing this for basically free. It drives people to use their software. And that works I have spent more money on games the last year with the steam deck than I did the previous 6 years combined.

      2. Playstation emulators will run amazing when they are done. We are talking fairly low end computers running ps4 games better than the ps4 did. We just need decrypted games and a compatibility layer between the sony custom graphics api and vulkan. Some of the games are probably even written in opengl and can run with zero translations.

      PlayStation is the more interesting platform to emulate.

      Also the home brew scene makes more sense on playstation because they don't have a developer mode like xbox's do. You can write your own windows apps and install it on xbox's. The window uwp api is awful though. It's a terrible experience.

      Here is mvg playing wii games on xbox

      Wii games run fine on steam deck though. Many ps3 games run at full speed emulating on steam deck. Many xbox 360 games too I hear.

      For me emulating games is a better experience than the actual consol. I can save whenever I want, change resolution, use any controller I want, have them all in one spot on a hard drive with no drm. It's just better
