In this video I prepare barium perchlorate from ammonium perchlorate. The process used results in a pretty pure compound that is suitable for use in preparing pure perchloric acid by a metathesis reaction between barium perchlorate and dilute sulfuric acid. The barium sulfate is filtered off and the perchloric acid is concentrated normally by evaporation.
