lemmy was created by actual communists I think (the main devs)
it has seemed to attract those further left than reddit (reddit not left enough for them)
the right is probably on more centralized platforms (is currently the mainstream U.S. politics) or maybe something even more decentralized like nostr
so, the right isn’t here as much, the more moderate left on major social platforms like reddit, the woker got attracted to lemmy and such

We need to fix that. Decentralization is important. Helps beat the censorship imposed on us by the left. It was a Mistake to close EH.

we had a couple instances before this (yeah, you remember EH), not sure if any others popped up and if there is a network of conservative federated instances

I would go even further and say, that given that Reddit is a centralized platform, they’re there to make money. And the political leftist extremists on Reddit, jeopardize that.
Reddit doesn’t want leftist extremists on their platform because it deters mainstream users from joining and participating bringing their revenue down.
And also the extremist users on Reddit are a risk with getting Reddit into legal trouble with their death threats and doxing of other users and just people that don’t agree with their ideology.
So let me users either leave voluntarily because Reddit won’t put up with their extremist bullshit, or they get banned because of their extremist bullshit and then hey what do you know? They come to Lemmy, the only place that will tolerate their political extremism.
