It's kinda cheating for them. They were going to reduce advertisement dollars in this downward economy anyway.
This just allowed them to virtue signal while they did it.

Advertisers set budgets for X views. Total Ads remain same, but cost per view drops when they leave
Also 8$ verification against bots while other SM are full of bots milking Ad budgets
Advertising on Twitter just got way cheaper and profitable. Space will be filled by smart marketers.
Yeah bots are a real problem for advertisers. Reddit is probably atleast half bots.
You spend money and you just get get views.
I'm thinking wolfballs will move to a ad model where anyone can buy a stickied top post. Only one post per community per day. The more people buying the more expensive it gets, the fewer the cheaper all the way down to a penny. That way it can run itself.
Maybe someone can pay to have another user's post stickied and the person who posted it will be able to receive a cut if their reputation is above a certain threshold, they've registered as a shit posting partner. so it will have a revenue sharing model.
I would need to read up on the tax law to do the revenue sharing model

He will, for one good reason. Fake bots.
All advertisements on Fbook, Insta etc especially the influencer ones are filled with 90%+ fake bots liking and clicking. Advertisers have been losing money massively for 15+ years
In comes Elon, says he's going to remove bots and add 8$ verification that guarantees its a human
That means if a company spends the same amount on Twitter as other platforms, it will get much higher real returns and not fake bots. You would have to be stupid to advertise elsewhere
