Will European integration survive past the end of this decade? Next year, France – a founding member of the EU – will hold a presidential election that may result in a victory for Jordan Bardella, an Eurosceptic from Marine Le Pen’s National Rally party.
Meanwhile, Poland – the largest of the states to join the EU since 2004 – will also hold a parliamentary election that may return Eurosceptic forces to power.
Should these political forces prevail, what would that mean for the future of the European project? Will the Brussels headquarters of the European Parliament and the European Commission come to serve very different purposes?
These are the questions Europe cannot run away from, and Wider View’s host, Marcin Zaborowski, will attempt to tackle them with his guests: Zoya Sheftalovich, Chief EU Correspondent at Politico, and Garvan Walshe, CEO of Article 7-Intelligence for Democrats.
