9/11 was the moment the USA empire hit terminal decline. The Military Industrial Complex had held sway over US domestic and foreign policy for decades, always seeking a new war to justify billion dollar defence contracts, and using the unaccountability of Pentagon audits to hide corruption and embezzlement. The levels of insider trading and corruption within the US government were already dangerously high even before 2001.. But after 9/11 and the start of the ‘War on Terror’ the dam wall burst (or got hit by a JDAM more accurately) and the corruption FLOODED into every level of US policy and lawmaking. Declaring war on an abstract concept with no specific goal or even defined enemy, allowed the Military Industrial Complex and its lobbyists, to start funnelling public money into endless contracts, that thanks to the Patriot Act, had little to no oversight or audit. It became the PERFECT cover for one of the biggest heists in world history. The result was an entire generation of US politicians, who were taught there were no consequences to corruption. Fast forward 25 years, and corruption and insider trading is literally the ONLY thing US politicians do now, while the country crumbles and cracks around them. Nothing has destroyed more empires in history than corruption, it has a 100% death rate once it crosses the point of becoming uncontrollable (which is why China has a zero tolerance policy toward corruption by the way). The United States crossed that point after 9/11. Everything you see happening in US politics now, is just the death rattle of the US empire, as corruption continues to eats it alive, from the inside out.
