Hey comrades :) <3!!!...I hope you’re all doing well. I finally have some happy news to share and it feels really good to come here today with something positive.
Yesterday evening, around 8 p.m…our caseworker called me. He asked me to inform the other three sisters I’m staying with here in Juba that we should get prepared, keep our phones on and be ready because they may be looking for us anytime from now.
He didn’t give us many details, so we’re still waiting for further instructions. But after all this waiting and praying, you can imagine how it felt to receive that call. I’m trying not to get ahead of myself but I really hope we’re getting closer to finally making it to Canada.
And there’s another piece of beautiful news. We’ve finally reached the full $2,225 needed to help the eight queer sisters in Gorom leave the camp and relocate to Juba, thanks to one incredibly kind stranger.
I shared the news with David and told him that once the support comes through, they’ll be able to make the journey and stay with us. He became so emotional that he cried for a moment during our phone call. The sisters are incredibly happy and grateful. They told me they don’t even have enough words to thank everyone who stepped forward.
To the person who donated the full amount and to every comrade who read, shared, boosted, commented and helped keep their story visible, THANK YOU. Your kindness has helped make this possible.
I’m also grateful that I could help bring these sisters and this community together. It means so much to see people showing up for one another.
We still have a few steps ahead, but today I just wanted us to share in these little victories. I’ll keep you updated as we hear more.
Much love to you all.
