I made Buddy, an open-source Android app where Claude Code, Codex or OpenCode operates your phone (reads the screen, taps, types). I wanted to know which model is actually best at it, so I ran a small benchmark on my OnePlus 12. 5 everyday tasks, 2 runs per model, apps reset between runs, no approvals, default effort:
- Android version from Settings
- 1234 × 5678 in Calculator
- Berlin temperature in Chrome
- Drive time in Google Maps
- Play a lofi video on YouTube Results (median per task):
- Sonnet 5.5: 25 s, 10/10
- Opus 5.5: 27 s, 10/10, fewest steps
- GPT-6 Luna: 29 s, 7/10
- Haiku 5.5: 30 s, 10/10
- GPT-6.1 Sol: 36 s, 10/10
- Space Bunny (free, OpenCode): 43 s, 10/10
- Big Pickle (free, OpenCode): 112 s, 10/10 Things I didn’t expect:
- Opus didn’t tap through Maps at all. It opened a directions deep link and just read the answer, 15 s. Others typed both addresses.
- Some models skipped Google and went straight to wttr.in for the weather.
- Luna was fast but reported today’s high instead of the current temperature twice.
- Space Bunny typed 1247 by mistake, noticed, and fixed it. It’s a small sample (one phone, 2 runs each), so treat it as a first look. Raw data and method in the comments. submitted by /u/3amae404
