Despite that miserable failure of that amphibious invasion, threatening the Ottomans from Thrace was ultimately successful at knocking them out of the war years later. The Vardar Offensive punched into Bulgarian occupied territories which zeroed out of the morale of the defenders and sparked mutinies, making the situation untenable and forcing Bulgaria to the table. Then the next domino fell. The Ottomans had committed too much in the east to handle a hypothetical sucker punch through Bulgarian territory to their capital while German supplies were simultaneously severed… hypothetically they could have evacuated to mainland Anatolia and then concentrated on the west, but their armies in Palestine had just been essentially deleted in the Battle of Megiddo leaving a path up through the Levant basically undefended so they figured that with two major fronts more or less undefended they were doomed even though they held quite a lot of gains in Iran and the Caucasus from after Russia went AFK and most of the core Turkish lands were not yet touched.
