Yeah they definitely should have negotiated the peace way sooner since that would have been less punitive. Had to ultimately sign off on even more insane losses for it later, though it was buoyed by a misplaced sense that whatever they signed wouldn’t really matter. They ideologically figured that the Entente and Central Powers alike were all actively collapsing and soon to be replaced by sympathetic revolutions across the continent which didn’t pan out
