Comment on [Opinion] About Lemmy

- actually that’s a reason??
- I barely see them, but what I did see today was several people saying ‘Fuck the CCP’ with a ton of upvotes.
- Have you tried the webapps, wefwef/voyager and … mymlm or whatever it’s called? Those are apparently really good. Remember there was no Reddit app until the community built it, and the apps weren’t perfect at the start either, but they did get there. Have fun using the piece of shit official reddit app, since that’s your only option now.
- First legitimate reason. It’s a busy instance. Try making an account on a less busy instance. I am connecting through lemmy.nz and I have no problems. It’s easy to copy communities over with Lasim.
- Second legitimate reason. Well, half. If you want better content, why don’t you take the initiative and help make Lemmy a better place? This is kind of like ‘everyone else isn’t doing the work for me.’

You’re not wrong, it’s the price we pay for federation.
Maybe we should push for a ‘merged communities’ function, where similar federated communities can join so you get one feed that contains all the posts.

Oh that’d be cool. Merge communities are federated communities. With distributed moderation. That would be really cool

Did some digging, merged communities are coming:

I think part of the problem, at least as far as memes are concerned, there’s a few groups at critical mass and then there’s some smaller ones with higher quality content that don’t get the recognition.
I keep coming back to this, Subscribed is your only feed, you have to cultivate it into a palace!

It’s not “kind of like”. It “is”.
