@ottsatwork @bookstodon I've gotten so bored with cishet love stories. I discovered LGBTQ romcoms, some formulaic, some much more interesting.

1. don't bother doing the Alpha male werewolf falling for an Omega same gender werewolf. It's been done and not particularly well.
2. Werewolf/Vampire parings are boring.
3. Friends-to-Enemies Warlock novels can go bad really fast.
4. Fake-Dating your frienemy. Yawn.

Those are some I-won't-bother stories I've though initially intersting but turned out to be a waste of time and money.

Self-publishing has turned Amazon into a slush-pile. When I come across a well written story, I laude it. Especially if the author shows skill. Take Naomi Navik's Dragon books set during the Napoleonic Wars. The 1st one was a wonderful introduction. The 2nd an exploration of what it means to have a 2nd sentient species (dragons) as part of Chinese Society. In the west, they're livestock even though they're intelligent and talk.
