small44@lemmy.world 2 months agoWith the coast of hosting videos and almost all instsnced not accepting registration. Peertube has zero chance to replace youtube. The best it could be is complementary to youtube

Peertube actually uses some pretty nifty p2p tech (not quite BitTorrent iirc but same principle) to mitigate popularity spikes.

What about how hard it is to have an account on any instance. Pwople can’t even comment on video without an account

But not being able to create an account easily is a good point that speaks against the concept.
But I would guess there are instance still open for registration.
