Gradually_Adjusting@lemmy.world 11 months agoIt’s a fun exercise, but all this really is, is “okay, talk out of your ass” and “now imagine you weren’t just bloviating at random and that was real”, rinse and repeat. Fun, but it’s a bit like hitting the exponent button on your calculator a bunch and going woooah big number! Just with words instead.

You were downvoted, but that’s exactly it. People are weird. Sometimes they recognize that AI can hallucinate, and sometimes they think the AI is speaking the absolute truth.

I never fuss about downvotes, people are inscrutable. If anyone has any detailed feedback I’m all ears.
These LLMs are not aware of what they’re saying. That’s why they occasionally hallucinate, they’re basically philosophical zombies.
