Someone else has downvoted, but I’m going to at least ask: are you implying that the US military-industrial complex is somehow behind Russian involvement in Africa?

No, I was implying that it gives certain interest groups in the US a handy argument for new business opportunities.
My comment was not about the whys, wherefores, or morality of the events being reported on; just a cynical evaluation about how certain industries in the US might start lobbying in response.

Ahh … Ok. You’re suggesting that this piece of news is being played up right now because someone invested in the US military-industrial complex is seeing the stage for US military involvement in Africa. That’s plausible.

They might not even be actively participating in the news itself, but could just be having frenzied boardroom discussions about how they can take advantage of it. News bites are great fodder for lobbyists.
