richieadler@lemmy.myserv.one 5 months agoCue the Max Headroom episode where the blanks (disconnected people) are chased by the censors because they steal cable so their children can watch the educational shows and learn to read, and they are forced to use clandestine printing presses to teach them.

that show was so amazingly prescient: the theme of the first episode was how advertising literally kills its viewers and the news covers things up. No wonder they didn't get renewed. ;)
