Comment on Does the rest of the English speaking world generally understand what an American means when they say "soccer", or does it help to clarify by adding "football"?

Sweets are a specific thing. Sweet is the flavour that you're thinking of, but if someone is using sweet as a noun, they're never referring to chocolate.
