I have not read it, but i shall!
Gaiman’s novel “Neverwhere” is also super super good. A very average man enters a different world, faces challenges, seduction and love. The writing was superb, a perfect balance of humour and plot and action. One of the ‘classes’ of people in Neverwhere is the Velvet. The protagonist referred to her as a velcro. That was unexpectedly funny.
And what a bittersweet ending. I’m a sucker for this kind of endings. Stephen King also does these kinds of ‘breakup’ endings sometimes.
Side note, the movie Stardust was also really good. Also an “a very average man enters a different world, faces challenges, seduction and love.” kind of story, but it’s the details that make a movie/story.

Try Gaiman’s American Gods. It has a pretty slow buildup, but once you’re in, you’re in. I’ll see if I can find the book Neverwhere. Stardust is a fun movie.

Oh yeah American Gods was pretty good too. I loved the little side storied about other gods. There was one who was a prostitute that ate a man, a jin that body swapped with a struggling businessman, and also something about an ancient god from the prehistoric age.
The first time i watched was in the cinema. I was so smitten by the pretty star lol. The next time i watched w was with my gf. It was torrented and we watched on a computer… we didn’t finish watching lol
