Comment on Are we living through the end of an empire?
Eldritch@lemmy.world 1 year agoSay all the bad things you like about China. For a long while they were pumping out greenhouse gases and pollutants at a rate unseen before. Toxic Hazes descended on the cities. And people had to stay inside for their health.
Suddenly though in recent years. A lot of that has started to change. They’re adopting renewable energy, far more readily than even the United States and making drastic progress. While we waffle on dancing for capitalist and fascist. I have no desire to implement the sort of political structure China has. Nor is China communist in any meaningful sense. But your comment is wildly uneducated.

They’re building 6 new coal plants… please show me how they’re the bastion of green energy again.

How does that negate any of what I said? Hell it’s possible to be more environmentally friendly by replacing old polluting coal plants with slightly cleaner newer ones. Regardless, it doesn’t change the fact that they are actually investing it heavily in renewables as well. Whereas in America we’ve got a bunch of dumbasses arguing that windmills give you cancer etc etc etc.

Lol what the fuck…and Chinas standard for building stuff has almost 0 of the safety and environmental standards the rest of the developed world has.
