      If that's a problem for some reason, they make bags that fold down to nearly nothing and you can stick in a pocket as well.

      Also, "Loss Prevention" for anyone else who needs it.

    i used to carry a backpack all the time when i lived in the city and rode the bus or train everywhere, including to grocery stores, target, walmart and the like. never once had a problem from workers in a store. this was the 80s-90s, times were 'different' then, as people would say. of course, looking 'mostly' caucasian probably helped somewhat.
