Would this be something you’re talking about? It’s the cheapest one I can see on Amazon here in Canada.
Comment on How to auto remount external HDD after power loss to laptop server?
GeorgimusPrime@lemmy.world 4 weeks agoThere are DC UPSes that can supply 12V and are typically used to keep wireless routers and security cameras running for a few hours during power failures. They plug into the mains and are about the size of a 3.5" HDD.
Most USB power banks power cycle when the switch between charging/supplying/pass through mode, so if you use them for computer equipment they will lose power for a few seconds when the mains comes on or off.
Edit: DC UPSes are also much cheaper than standard ones.

Hey there! A moderator just restored my post and you probably never got the notification for my previous comment. I was just wondering if this is the UPS you had in mind.

Hi! That looks way more expensive though it might work for you. This is what I had in mind: www.amazon.ca/…/B0F66B34WN

Unfortunately, my HDD doesn’t support those ports so I guess I’ll just suck it up and spend the extra $20. Thanks for the help! :)
