hal_5700X@lemmy.world 10 months agoHow can GOTY editions keep games from disappearing? The only good thing about GOTY editions. You have the base game and DLC(s) in one package. This haves nothing to do with games disappearing.

It does safeguard to some extent. The goty editions will typically have all patches that didn’t exist on the launch version. This is usually an issue for offline play/preservation where the platform that would provide you with updates no longer exist.

Yeah, having all of the patches is another good thing about GOTY editions.
But this still have nothing to do with stopping our games from disappearing.
