Comment on Annotations for *Star Trek: Lower Decks* 4x09: “The Inner Fight” (SPOILERS)

The title is a play on the TNG episode “The Inner Light”
But why? I don’t see a storyline connection/similarly between this episode and “The Inner Light”.
I think the episode is just about Mariner’s inner fight about being in Starfleet, and the similarity in title is just coincidental.

It’s definitely not coincidental, considering that “The Inner Light” is one of the most famous episodes of the series. It’s a pun, a play on words in relation to the TNG episode title. It doesn’t have to have a thematic connection for it to be a title.
