While I agree with you in theory, I’m not sure how it would go in practice. The percent of people not using Chrome or a Chrome clone is, at this point, in the single digits. And since they have de facto control over the internet, it’s pretty easy to force other browsers to do what they want.

Although, come to think of it, DRM didn’t really prevent people from ripping Netflix or Amazon content, or even streaming it on something like Discord.
