idavydov@mstdn.science 5 days ago@SorteKanin Prusa slicer and firmware is open source, AFAIK. Their hardware is no longer open source (they still publish files under non-FOSS license). They claim it's protecting them from Chinese copycats; not sure if that would work at all.
But they are much more community friendly; I imagine they will never threaten individual developers like Bambu did.

@SorteKanin Regarding the price, yep, Prusa is expensive. Prusa claims it's because they're not subsidized unlike the Chinese competition.
Another though, if you're into tinkering, I cannot recommend getting a kit enough. It's really a unique experience, you save a bit and still keep the warranty and customer support.
