It’s more like sentai tokusatsu robots (think the Mega Zords from Power Rangers) but SSSS.Gridman is a cool reboot of Tsuburaya (Ultraman) Productions.
Along similar lines, Samurai Flamenco is another fun take on tokusatsu heroes, complete with a combining sentai robot

Have to second Samurai Flamenco. It’s not technically a mech anime, but if Gurren Lagann was 10/10 for OP, there’s a good chance they’ll really enjoy it!
