  A family friend worked for “the government” and “pushed papers” only answers I ever heard him give in 25 years of knowing him. I ran into him after he retired and I asked him if they gave him a big sendoff and he just said “My department doesnt do get togethers” and I wondered if he was hinting at something so I said “Glad to be done ‘pushing papers?’” really leaning on the last 2 words And he smiled “I am, but I did push some really interesting papers in my time though”

  And thats the closest I ever got to finding out what that cagey old bastard really did for “the government”
