treesquid@lemmy.world 5 days agoRazor slims have shitty protection if the battery dies, only 22db, which is not enough without also using foamies. Also their sound quality is dogshit compared to the equally cheap Impact Sport electronic muffs, which also sacrifice passive protection for slimmer dimensions. Proper passive muffs are 30-33db reduction.

Huh, TIL. I do have a pair of purely passive muffs (from my father, presumably acquired in the 90s/00s) that I could use if need be. I got the Razor slims a bit back because of a clearance discount at a sporting good store, glad to hear there are other options in their price range though.
