you can still play it in 15 more years whereas everyone that buys a remake of a remake of the original… well, corporate Dumpster fires

True, thanks to modders the life of the game has been extended a lot, it was unplayable several years after I bought it but then it was revived thanks to some good folks who improved the game engine and translation and made higher quality textures etc.
