Comment on YSK what legal rights you have in encounters with ICE
quick_snail@feddit.nl 2 weeks agoThere arr very few roads with minimum speed limits. If you’re driving the exact same as the speed limit, you’re the one that’s endangering everyone on the road.
You should always expect a bicycle around every turn that’s going 5 mph.

If someone’s going >10% over the speed limit, that means other people have to pass them, which is a dangerous maneuver. If they’re going the speed limit, only selfish people will pass them.
Police are literally allowed stop you for going 50-60 on a 90 km/h road here in the middle of the summer. It’s suspicious and a completely valid reason to check if you’re drunk.
But
I literally said that corners (tight ones anyway) and poor visibility (which corners can cause) in general are valid excuses, in addition to the aforementioned ice. “I was scared of doing 90” is not. I think you’re lacking a little bit of reading comprehension. Must be the famously excellent American school system.

You do not have to pass someone who is driving safely. You could, you know, also drive safely

I prefer to be as far away from drunk drivers, broken cars and unskilled drivers as possible. So no, I won’t drive behind someone like that.
Speed differences are known to be more dangerous than actually going the speed limit. You should have a valid reason for driving slowly. If you don’t and can’t handle driving at the speed limit, you shouldn’t have a license.
