Comment on Hatred for new accounts on Lemmy is related to people's inability to debate the merit of a post on its own so they engage in ad hominem and strawmen fallacies to weaponize their weak arguments.

  Personally I think it was less of a problem before the influx of people from reddit, a portion of whom imported their bad behaviors. Several lemmy communities were much nicer prior, and now I don’t participate in them anymore.

  (I am aware of the irony of my using a new account right now, but I was the same name on lemmy.world prior to giving piefed ago)
