I think Russian collusion is only a small part of the restructuring and retreat of the American empire, much of it has to do simply with the rise of regional powers and American corruption at all levels of government, which means that the empire’s military is not as well funded as before, that different groups of politicians will take money from sometimes competing factions of capital (the people are an afterthought, you just need to spin things well for them to buy it either way), and finally, that America cannot just do what it wants in the world as it did just 20 years ago.
Would Russia benefit from a weaker America? Of course, most of the world would, especially the vassal states like the one I live in which are now threatened by America. Did Russia have something to do with Trump and the rise of MAGA? Certainly, they do the same in Europe by financing major far right groups (Marine Le Pen is on the Russian payroll, for instance). Would all of this, including ICE, have happened regardless? Yes, probably just comparatively slowly, because the world just used the worst traits of American society against them, and your leaders have and would have done it regardless, but Trump is just too charismatic to much of the American public not to use his existence and this critical time to better spin what is an obvious sale of America.
