They might mean Easy Rider which famously features "Born to be Wild".

MC_Lovecraft@lemm.ee 1 year agoI must confess that I haven’t seen either film. Vanishing Point is on my list because I love Cleavon Little, but the only Born to be Wild I could find was a 2005 comedy (and a 1938 drama) and the Steppenwolf song, so I’m not familiar with the film you’re referencing. If it’s good, I’ll definitely put it on the list though.

Brain fart, I was thinking of Easy Rider because it features the song Born to be Wild prominently!
Vanishing Point is pretty out-there, they cut a scene where the protagonist sleeps with an angel for example, but it does have a lot of metaphors in regards to freedom from oneself vs freedom from outside forces
