Yup, the launcher is now optional and there’s an offline mode. My biggest annoyance was that, when I launched it the first time, it played an ad for the new game featuring the main voice actor.

I wouldn’t be playing it otherwise. They added a Dark Souls-esque invasion mode where you can jump into other people’s games as a zombie, and I HATE that mechanic.
