But…

Location purely from IP address just gets you the right country, that is about as accurate as it gets. It gets the location of my ISP, not of my device.

That’s not really true though. If you’re say on a IP that is in the Bell Alliant range, I know you’re in the Maritime Provinces of Canada. That’s a lot narrower already than Canada. There’s a lot of ISPs that are pretty local and just knowing the IP will get you a lot closer.

And on top if that there is statistic analysis and much more. GAFA probably knows your home address and where you work and what’s your IP is so…
