JC staff was never particularly good, but it was also never THIS bad though, they were perfectly mediocre, the To aru series and shokugeki no soma have their own sakuga parts on sakugabiiru after all.

When I was reading the manga my takeaway was that the monster association arch was unanimatable due to the complexity of the monster designs. You’d have to go 3D models and those would look and move like ass.
