To be fair, the only “correct” course of action for the various nations of the world in China’s worldview is total submission to China. If you’re not paying tribute to China and acknowledging their leader as the Son of Heaven, they have a major problem with it and a cold war mentality is one of many things that could possibly prevent nations from submitting to China.
