ScoffingLizard@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 hours agoThat is cool WSL accomodates graphical apps, but after the recall Windows feature that snapshots everything, I’m about to remove Windows from my last computer that still has it. I really just need to figure out if my Steam save files will transfer to Linux since my Elden Ring character is level 220 or something crazy. I can’t even use WSL at work any longer because security locked us out of admin permissions. Boooo!

They absolutely should, if now, you can probably run it in a VM shame box. I have a little windows set up on mine for some specialist apps. When games are installed via Proton on Linux, they usually are set up to mimic the file structure for windows.

I am running Arch with Hyprland, and I have not had any issues with games yet. I have not even tried Proton yet. Maybe it is because they are supported on Linux. I can not remember though.

Proton works just as well as native, so even if it is not compatible with the native version, you’ll be able to copy the files into the proton structure.
