Well there are the various PeerTube instances, of which tilvids is one I use a bit. You do need to search specific tags for the things you like. Here is a list of fediverse branches

Does anybody know a Youtube that has videos about tech tinkering, crafting, and making art? I’ve tested out Odysee once, but it was full of right-wing xenophobic stuff, which seemed to keep the leftist artist and creative crowd away. Also, Odysee was unusable from a slow mobile connection since it often didn’t offer a lower bitrate stream…

Does PeerTube have a better discovery algorithm than Mastodon? I have found simply tags and newest doesn’t work for me.

I currently only use it to subscribe to 1 user I know from youtube 😅. I have him on my mobile app Newpipe, where I have a few youtube and peertube subs on

The best way to handle transitioning from YouTube is to use GrayJay. Follow creators that you like and when any of them have a platform on a different service, subscribe to them there.
Besides YouTube, it supports any PeerTube instance, Patreon, Twitch, Nebula, Odysee, Rumble, Dailymotion, Ted Talks, etc.
