If it is leaking enough to effect wifi then you really should get a new unit if you could.
I wouldn’t cover it in foil as that will block the air intakes from cooling the unit.

Policing the police I suppose. “Effect” can actually be used as a verb, and it means “to bring about a result”. So something could effect something else. It’s still used incorrectly in the original comment, I just wanted to contribute a nitpick I thought you’d appreciate.

This microwave is a fairly recent new unit surrounded by all metal already
The only thing that’s plastic is the control panel but I’d doubt they’d leave the area behind that unshielded
